Lemon Chicken & Asparagus Stir Fry: The Powerful Aphrodisiac?

chicken-spring-vegetables-LOL-6bDoes this long, green, fibrous shaft really have the ability to excite the senses? While various foods such as strawberries, chocolate and pomegranates claim to hold powerful aphrodisiac qualities, today’s concentration is on the mighty asparagus; one of the most commanding of all.

The Vegetarian Society, which recommends feeding asparagus to your lover by hand, suggests that three straight days of asparagus nibbling produces the most aphrodisiac effect.

beautyThe secret to asparagus is in more than its shape. This pencil-sized vegetable is also packed with nutrients needed for healthy hormone production, including an injection of vitamin E–also great for your skin. It’s also a source of folate–important for reproductive health, ladies. Lastly, you might be surprised to learn that asparagus is one of the antioxidant rich foods and will help fight the aging process. So let’s get to nibbling with an erotic recipe suggestion!

Ingredients:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thighs or a mix, cubed or whole

Kosher salt, to taste

½ cup chicken broth

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 teaspoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 bunch of asparagus, cut into 2 inch pieces…the smaller the stalk the sweeter the sweet

1/2 cup each of chopped red & yellow onions

6 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled & grated

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Lemon zest

Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

In a large skillet, saute asparagus and onion in oil over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. When 1 minute remains, add garlic. Set asparagus and garlic aside.

Season chicken with salt & pepper. Increase heat to high and saute chicken until browned.

Set chicken aside, add soy sauce and chicken broth to skillet. Bring to boil for about 1 minute. Add lemon juice, water, coriander, ginger and corn starch, stir for about 1 minute.

Return chicken and asparagus to pan. Coat with sauce. Top with lemon zest. Serve with simple steamed brown or white rice.
