Buttery, caramelly, slightly salty and sweet! “Great Sandwiches” served up today at Once Upon a Spice! These bites of lusciousness offer the perfect combination of tastes for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner. Turkey ham may be substituted, but Swiss is the only way to go for your choice of cheese. Emmentaler works well too, but it’s in the Swiss family 😉 I stand by my choice of cheese in this one! You’ll see why! Mahalo!
Ingredients:
4 tablespoons butter; softened
8 slices bread; wheat or white
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices of cooked ham
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Directions:
Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Spread butter onto one side of each slice of bread. Place butter side down in skillet. Top each piece with 1 tsp of Dijon, one slice of cheese, two slices of ham, and about 2 tablespoons of crushed pineapple. Top with another slice of cheese and remaining slices of bread on top with butter side up. When the bottom of the sandwich is golden brown, flip sandwiches, and cook until browned on the other side, about 2-3 minutes. Repeat steps with remaining ingredients if all four sandwiches do not fit in your skillet. This is an “amazing munch!”
